Alternative Treatment for Bilateral Renal Failure than Dialysis
Kidneys are a pair of bean-shaped organs located near the middle of the back. They function to filter blood and keep electrolyte balance as well as produce necessary hormones. If they work inadequately, it will lead to a series of problems.
If only one of kidneys is involved, the other kidney still can maintain normal physiological activity for the strong compensatory capacity of kidneys. That is why some people are born with one kidney and still can live a normal life.
However, in Bilateral Renal Failure, both of kidneys fail to work aduquately. Therefore, the patients have to require replacement therapy to prolong their life such as dialysis.
Dialysis does take on some of the jobs of a healthy kidney but cannot cure Bilateral Renal Failure. If the patients have End Stage Renal Failure they will need dialysis for the rest of their life if they do not receive other proper treatment to improve renal function.
