Why Does the Serum Creatinine Increase

When the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is lower than 60 ml/min, serum creatinine will go up. In another words, if serum creatinine increases, glomerular filtration rate is bound to be lower than normal level. For those whose serum creatinine is normal, their GFR can be normal or lower than normal level.
If the tests of renal function show that only serum creatinine is increased while other indicators keep nomal, patients will be asked to receive another examination three days later during which they must take vegetarian diet. Besides, they should also accept other necessary examinations like routine urinary test, renal B ultrasound test, routine blood test and others to determine whether the kidney is diseased or not.
There are some situations which can drive the serum creatinine up.
1. Patients always carry fatigue in daily life without enough rest and pay little attention to some life details, all of which can cause a transient increase of serum creatinine.
2. The loss of water in the body due to fever, sweat or less drinking. The pachemia in diuresis period reduce the blood volume in kidney and the increase of serum creatinine may appear at this time.
3. Patients who have suffered from kidney disease before wrongly take some medicines with renal toxicity, which can lead to increased serum creatinine and some cases are irreversible.
4. If patients with Renal Insufficiency also suffer from infections including colds, pneumonia, intestinal tract infection or urinary tract infection, serum creatinine may show increase within a short period of time.
5. For those patients who have suffered from kidney disease, if the disease reappear, they may present oliguria and even anuric, which can be accompanied by Acute Renal Insufficiency, thus driving the serum creatinine up.
6. For Hypertension patients, if the blood pressure is not well controlled, long-term massive proteinuria will appear and the disease may develop silently and finally result in the increase of serum creatinine.

Serum creatinine is a very important indicator to the diagnosis of kidney disease. Through the above introduction, we know some factors which can lead to the increase of serum creatinine. So in the daily life, we must pay much attention to those details and live a healthy life. For more information, please Email us at khkpcn@hotmail.com
